"My Dear Boy" - continued
You might know Brad Bird as the Oceanside Star reporter who wrote stories about walking through England with his wife, Karen Stewart. At 52, Brad is a long-time newspaperman and historian who has written My Dear Boy, a history focusing on his family’s contributions to the defense of Canada and war reporting. His late father, Clayton, flew Halifax bombers in the Second World War while his uncle Mackenzie was a soldier with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Their riveting stories are part of My Dear Boy. Brad himself has covered wars in Kosovo, Western Sahara, Turkey and the Caucasus, and his memoirs make up a section, more than 200 pages, of the 600-plus page book, which has many photos. He will have copies for sale, $25.
